Minot of Today (1915) – 1915 Tales From Old Timers #17 Pt 1

Parks are the playground of the public, and Minot is fortunate in this respect, having almost 100 acres of park property laid out. The Purchase of Eastwood Park was brought about by Halvor L. Halvorson during his term in office on the city commission, making Minot a city of parks for all time to come. Halvorson was I the midst of the fight for improved side-walks, and was instrumental in giving the city a “White Way” as wide as Nicolett Avenue in Minneapolis. (side note – The “White Way”, I believe was 9th Street in Eastwood Park. The street lights from that era are now on Shirley Court in NE Minot)
